PNC Edward Chastain - 1985

Past National Commanders and Presidents from Georgia

PNC Edward Chastain was inducted into the U.S. Army in November 1943, completed infantry training at Camp Blanding, FL. and then joined Co. I, 120th Inf., 30th Inf. Div. at St. Lo, France in July

1944. He helped capture 278 German prisoners during the breakthrough at the Siegfried Line. While acting sergeant near the Rhine River, Cologne, Germany he suffered shrapnel wounds to his right arm, leg and head. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medals. He also received the Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Rifleman Expert Rifleman Badge and the EAMETO Ribb oBnad wgiet h 3 Battle Stars. He served as Chapter, State and Regional Officer and as the National Commander for the MOPH from 1985 – 1986.PNC Chastain also served on the Board of Directors for the MOPH Service Foundation.

PNP Irene Chastain - 1986

PNP Irene Chastain was an active member of the Augusta Woman’s Club for over 50 years, serving in many capacities. In 2006, she received The President’s Call to Service Award of the USA Freedom Corps presented by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in recognition and appreciation of her commitment to strengthening our nation and making a difference through volunteer service. In January 1997, she received the Humanitarian Award from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains of Past National President From Georgia Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. She was elected National President in 1986. Irene held many other local, state, regional and national offices in the auxiliary. She accumulated over 10,000 hours of volunteer service at the Veterans Hospital.

PNC James Blaylock - 1996

PNC James Blaylock grew up on a farm in Albany, Georgia in a family of nine children, three of whom are Veterans. He was educated in the Dougherty County Public School System. He lost his right hand and forearm while serving with the Marine Corps in Vietnam. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in business from Albany State College and a Master’s degree in business management from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

He has served as a Chapter, State, Region, and National Commander of the Military Order of the

Purple Heart; he is a past Chairman-of-the-Board of the Purple Heart Foundation and a founding

board member of the Georgia Veterans Leadership Program. He is a past Chairman and two-term member of the Georgia Veterans Service Board, an appointment bestowed on him by

successive Georgia governors Roy Barnes and Sonny Perdue.

PNC James Randles - 2005

PNC James Randles was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant after receiving a degree in education from the University of Nevada. He retired in 1987 after 20 years of service. PNC Randles served in various posts around the world but most notably refers to his stint as Trop Commander of G Troop, 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam. He received 3 Bronze Stars, one with the Valor Device, Purple Heart, 3 Meritorious Service and 

Joint Service Commendation, 3 Army Commendation Medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnamese Armor Badge. PNC Randles has served as a chapter and state officer. He became the third National Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart from Georgia when he was installed in 2005. He still serves on the MOPH Service Foundation Board of Directors.
