Commander William Jones, of (MOPH) Atlanta Chapter #465, declared satisfaction and delight at the turnout for this first-ever event and start of an annual occurrence. The tournament was in honor of the late State Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Pete Wheeler, who served in that capacity for 66 years.
Pete's daughter and son-in law, Frances and Mark Jones as well as two of his grandsons were in attendance along with current Commissioner Mike Roby. State Representative (District #87) Earnest "Coach” Williams also supported the event and played on a team. Commander Jones commented that in addition to local golfers, players traveled from Chattanooga, TN to be a part of this beginning. He expressed his profound gratitude to all sponsors and participants and predicts even greater success for next year.
Proceeds from this year's event will enable continued assistance to needy veterans and support of local ‘first responders‘. Commander Jones looks forward to everyone returning next year to further enable Chapter #465 to serve the community.
